My father was an early influence in the classic menswear space. A career as a diplomat in the Foreign Service demanded that he be attired in a manner befitting such a station. Already in his mid-twenties by the late 1950s, his sartorial sensibility was firmly shaped by the elegance of great British tailoring — a wardrobe that comprised bespoke suits and carefully chosen accoutrements; each piece selected with quiet purpose. It is from that wardrobe, and from watching the man who wore it, that my own sartorial life began.
With the natural evolution that typifies any deep passion, I have come to appreciate the full breadth of classic menswear — the functional construction of English tailoring, the flair of the Italians, and the precision-cut silhouettes that have emerged from Japan and Korea. Elavanyo is an homage to all of these influences. Without, of course, forgetting my African origins — from where the name itself hails, and where its meaning was formed. ELAVANYO – All Will Be Well.
Working with the finest materials, ateliers, and creatives, our commitment to quality is not a promise — it is simply the only way we know how to work. There is no desire to reinvent the wheel. This is a gentleman’s honest attempt to add his story to a heritage that precedes him, and will certainly outlast him.
