My father was an early influence for me in the classic menswear space. A career as a diplomat in the Foreign Service demanded that he be attired in a manner befitting such a station. Already in his mid 20s by the late 1950s, his sartorial influence was firmly shaped by the elegance of great British tailoring, as the depth of his wardrobe reveals; a wardrobe that comprised a number of bespoke suits and accoutrements. It is from this influence that my own sartorial interests sprung.
With the natural evolution that typifies any area of one’s passion and interests, I have come to have great appreciation for the classic menswear era of the early to mid 20th century, reflected splendidly in the English functional construction, the Italian flair and latterly, the well engineered precision-cut silhouettes that have emerged from the Far East - Japan and Korea to be exact. This brand is an homage to these influences – without of course forgetting my African origins, from where indeed the name ELAVANYO hails - and means 'All Will Be Well'.
Working with the best materials, ateliers and creatives, our commitment to produce products of only the highest quality is self-evident. There is no desire to reinvent the wheel – it is simply a gentleman’s honest attempt to add his story to a heritage that precedes, and certainly will outlast him. I hope you enjoy wearing these pieces as much as we have enjoyed creating them; and that hopefully they form the foundation of, or add to your already splendid sartorial armoury.
